Structural masonry is one of the oldest and most resilient building practices. Most of the world's oldest buildings are constructed using this method, where masonry—brick or stone—is used in such mass that it becomes self-supporting. Unlike modern construction that relies on wood-framed walls that hold up masonry veneers, with structural masonry the brick IS the structure, not just a decorative layer.

Why does this matter? Structural masonry is incredibly durable and can last for centuries. Without wood framing or plywood, there’s nothing to rot, attract termites, or burn. It provides unmatched solidity against wind, better resistance to mold, mildew, and flooding, and exceptional longevity.
